Radar Tires Ready For Its Sophomore LOORRS Season With Luke Johnson

Traverse City, Mich., – March 19, 2014 – Radar Tires has set the bar for its 2014 off-road racing season. Fresh off a victory in the Baja 250 Class 10 SCORE International with drivers Cody Robinson and Roberto Romo, Radar Tires looks to carry that winning momentum into the season-opening, short course races this weekend.

The flagship brand of Singapore-based Omni United, Radar Tires has high expectations heading into this weekend’s E3 Spark Plugs Arizona Nationals races in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by Geico (LOORRS) at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Ariz.

Red Bull athlete Luke Johnson is carrying the Radar Tires flag this weekend. The 22-year-old 2013 The Off-Road Championship (TORC) Pro Buggy Champion and driver/owner of the No. 14 Project648 Motorsports Nissan Frontier, affectionately named Becky, returns to the Pro Light class for the first time since 2012. This is also the first race Johnson will use size LT265/75R16 and 31X10.50R15 Radar Renegade R5 tires.

“I am really excited about running these Radar R5s on a properly groomed track,” said Johnson. “The tires worked great during testing when we were on a beat-up track and I can only imagine how well the Renegades will be in race conditions. We’re ready to go at Project648 and Becky is ready to hit the dirt.”

The season-opening race at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, formerly Firebird Raceway, takes place on the five-turn, one-mile track that features 1,000 feet in elevation changes. The two-day event features off-road racing on both Saturday and Sunday. Radar Tires, Project648 Motorsports and Johnson will compete in each race.

“I’m really looking forward to getting the season started at Wild Horse Pass,” said Johnson. “This weekend is going to set the tone and pace for the rest of the season. The limited practice time is going to be rough since this is my first race back in Pro Light. We did some preseason testing at Wild Horse and it went well, so I’m confident going into the race this weekend. Gearing is going to be crucial and I’m happy to say we only have a little fine-tuning to do once at the track.”

Some of the Radar Tires used this weekend feature the Breast Cancer Research Foundation pink ribbon logo. For every Radar tire sold, Omni United will donate $5 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) with a minimum annual donation of $200,000 and a maximum donation of $250,000.

“I’m thrilled to run the Radar tires with the BCRF logo on them,” continued Johnson. “One of the reasons I was drawn to Radar Tires and Omni United is its support of BCRF. This commitment is near and dear to my heart because I lost my grandma to breast cancer when she was only 52, after beating it once before in her life.”

For the second consecutive season, Radar Tires is competing in both long and short course offroad racing. In addition to LOORRS, Radar Tires will compete in TORC series with Johnson and Cam Reimers Motorsports drivers Cam Reimers and Ian Harris. Radar Tires also competes in SCORE International with Bronson Motorsports and Robinson Romo Racing. In March, Robinson Romo Racing drivers Cody Robinson and Roberto Romo won the Baja 250 Class 10 race.
