TRAVERSE CITY, June 1st, 2016 – Omni United’s Radar Tires is all set to enter the 2016 season of Baja 500 with multiple entries in Class 10 and 12. So far six teams have officially entered to race in Class 10 and 12 categories. The teams include #1058 Mikey Lawrence, #1002 Clay Lawrence, #1043 Scott Youngren, #1073 Richard Glaszczak and #1040 Cody Robinson. #1216 Matt Ferraro will race in Class 12. All teams will use 33X10.50R15 Radar Renegade R5 M/T tires.
In their four short seasons of desert racing, Omni United’s Radar Tires has seen many podiums finishes especially in the Baja 500. Radar Tires drivers won back-to-back Baja 500’s in 2013-14 and nearly clinched the win in 2015. They also swept the Baja 250, Baja 500 and Baja 1000 for class 10 in 2014. The company hopes to continue the same trend in 2016.
The 2016 Baja 500 is expected to draw over 250 entries at the start line, set in Ensenada, Mexico, a seaside port on the Pacific Ocean that is approximately 80 miles south of San Diego. The 477.51-mile elapsed-time race with staggered starts begins Saturday, June 4th at approx. 10 a.m. for the cars and trucks and has a 21-hour time limit in order to be an official finisher. The annual 500-mile event traverses through high-speed dirt trails, sand, rocks, silt, natural terrain, washes and canyons – a perfect combination for the Renegade R5.
