U.S. President Joe Biden vows to replace the government’s fleet with electric vehicles

U.S. President Joe Biden has vowed to shift focus on clean energy, in a recent development he has announced to replace the U.S. government's fleet with electric vehicles. The current feet is about 650,000 vehicles. He plans to replace these with cleaner and more efficient electric vehicles which are made in America by American workers.

Biden also criticized existing rules that allowed a vehicle to be called U.S. made despite having certain parts such as the engine, steel, and glass manufactured outside of America. Biden said he would be closing such loopholes that allowed such vehicles to be called U.S. made.

While Biden did not answer what period he plans to do this over, this initiative could cause the U.S. government $20 billion or more.

He also vows to build 550,000 EV charging stations and invest in more clean energy research. This initiative plans to create 1 million new jobs in the American auto industry, domestic auto supply chains, and auto infrastructure, from parts to materials to electric vehicle charging stations.

In his bid to push clean energy Biden backs rebates for the consumers to upgrade to newer more efficient electric vehicles and also is in favour of giving incentives to manufacturers to build or upgrade their factories to assemble and build EV parts.
